I did a clean install of Yosemite, then installed Cubase 8 from the download installer.
When I launch Cubase, it cannot find these VSTs. I did no customization on my install, so I don’t understand why these aren’t where they should be…

I should know better than to upgrade at the start of a new version. Additionally, the link in the Cubase 8 Installer doesn’t work - it goes to a erroneous web page. Frustrating. Poor usability testing, Steinberg…
This happened to me too. I went to the installer>additional content>vstsound. Just copy all and then pressed skip all for the files that were already in there. It copied roughly 15 or so.
Thanks, Charlie, that was very helpful. Unfortunately, there were only 8 items my version of that installation content folder, but I now have less vsts missing thanks to your post. I’ve still a fair number of missing items…I’ve put a support ticket into Steinberg about this…
I am struggling already 3 days for this. How can i continue my project started with “GROOVE AGENT ONE” Where is this drum VST? New version is Groove Agent SE
I uninstall Cubase 6, install 8, uninstall everything start over, install 8 first then copy 6 content to bla bla many times with all possibilities. I don’t want “GROOVE AGENT SE” if i need to sacrifice is ok. I have to make GA1 working.
Please help, all projects… almost all of them has G.A ONE
Groove agent one is not automatically installed, but is in the download:
Cubase_Pro_8_Installer_win\Cubase 8\Cubase 8 for Windows\Additional Content\Groove Agent One\Windows 64-bit
And content install files are here:
Cubase_Pro_8_Installer_win\Cubase 8\Cubase 8 for Windows\Additional Content\VST Sound
Hey, thanks for the info. I am not quite understand, do i need to double click and install or just drag drop somewhere. This is the file I’ve founded. It recognized wrongly i believe by the windows. It’s a bin. file, can you give more explanation
Copy both of those files and put them here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Steinberg
There are serious installation flaws attending Cubase 8 for Mac. Crucial content files for Groove Agent are missing, along with a host of other missing files. I found the vst3 file for it in the Mac Groove Agent installation folder, but that is the only file there.
Launching the Cubase 8 for Mac folder beneath the Start Center in the installation package reveals folders with some of the missing content. Updating the installer seems to install some missing items, but it still fails to install a host of important vst files, which show up as missing after launching Cubase 8. I’ve been able to dramatically reduce the list of missing files (see my post above), but the Loop Mash and other files remain MIA. Additionally, Cubase 8 periodically crashes upon launch.
After tracking down stray files in the installation folder, creating a missing vst3 folder on my system, and attempting other measures to fix this installation problem, I’m giving up on trying to sort this out for now.
Steinberg has provided a GIGANTIC fail on their Mac Cubase 8 installer (for now). I hope they fix it soon. They should be ashamed of themselves for providing such an error-plagued installer. This installation has, so far, been a complete waste of time.
But i wish they include this info cubase 8 download page, as a readme file. Anyway thank you, that worked.
