Cubase 9.0.20 crashes on score editor opening (El Capitan)

As per the title… does anyone else have this experience / know how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

First thing would be to delete score layouts. But don’t try to open the track(s) you’ve been looking at.

1 Add a midi track and a midi part,
2 open that in the Score Editor,
3 open Score Settings Layouts tab and Remove all the layouts.

Obviously, work on a copy of your file, not the original.

Many thanks for your speedy response. I’ll give this a go later today.

I’m afraid it crashes before I can open the score editor even with a newly created blank project + added midi channel and one note of midi.

I reinstalled everything a couple of weeks ago, and can only assume that some other persistent file is causing the issue.

Would the console output be useful for debugging?

Just for info, and so that the thread wasn’t wasted:

Renaming the ‘Cubase 9’ folder under ‘Macintosh HD/Users//Library/Preferences/’ to ‘Cubase 9 OLD’ allowed me to open the score editor and also resolved some midi import issues I’d been having. I had lots of custom presets though, so it’ll take a while to work out which ones were the cause.

I hope this helps anyone with the same situation.

Indeed. That’s why I suggested to also have a look at the troubleshooting tips in the Knowledgebase.

Thanks Steve. I hope the bug gets fixed at some point though.
