I came from 7.5.40, so I’m not unhappy.
When in the calendar year does the X.5 version usually come out? That’s had some significant added functionality in the last two versions, iirc.

They all (the .0 and .5 releases) come out on the 3rd Wednesday of December, so a long way to go

hi everybody)
my 2 cents… I got Cubase, studio one, bitwig, ableton DAWS installed. and only Cubase 9 is crashing constantly. even without plugins, just wavs project can crash in the middle of nothin just when I move mouse and backup always corrupted. so, from all DAWS I have Cubase is only USELESS.
Not saying that you’re not experiencing this, but Cubase 9.0.1 has been very stable for me (on a rig shared with PT). If you updated to 9.0.1 but have these extreme issues, something somewhere has gone very wrong.
Thank you for joining exclusively to share these insights
I remember when everyone was complaining about how buggy Cubase was and how many users on here would be happy to pay just for long awaited and consolidated bug fixes. Don’t add new features when old features weren’t working correctly but now with Cubase 9 its that there’s not enough new features??!!
I have found Cubase 9 to be the most stable version yet, almost never get a crash whilst Im working. A few crashes at startup and when loading some projects have recently started creeping in though Im not convinced this isnt Windows related. I havent benefitted much from the interface additions, I find the bottom dock keeps getting in the way. Having the mixer docked to a small window is no use to me but I see some may find it useful, especially once its tweaked to efficiency.
I still get really annoyed with vst effects bypass button on the mixer. I wish it was just turn plugin on and off like the activate button on the top left when vst interface is up. I keep turning the plugin off and trying to turn it on again in the mixer. I thought it was a bug but its the button being a bypass button rather that turning plugin on and off (holding shift).
Sampler track is something Ive wanted for over a decade, needs a few additions but fundamentally spot on. I wish we could set it to open in a seperate window by default like everything else.
I was hoping for a little update to the GUI colour scheme and customisation, ability to use themes giving cubase a different feel if wanted. Im superficial like that, it helps me change my mood and creativity.
I find the update a good one, I find Cubase like a steady train moving forward. It was getting rocky with all its bugs and overlooked features, thankfully Steinberg have listened and improved in the right areas.
After reading your post you might know the answer to my question. I have just ordered my upgrade from 7.5 to Cubase Pro 9. I am using two monitors for cubase 7.5 and have the track widow on one and the mixer and transport window on the other. In 9 it doesn’t show that this is possible as it seems it is all view able on the one screen. Can 9 be set up to utilize my two monitors. Thanks for any help you can give.
You can use it in the same way. You might want to change the settings to this:

Forgive me if this has already been said, but I am enjoying the ability to add midi controllers after Cubase has been started. The number of times I have had to shut down Cubase after forgetting to turn something vital on.
I am also enjoying the new drum visibility tool. Fantastic for paring down the lanes visible on the editor, for seeing all the lanes used by the mapping and toggling between them. It has made the drum editing a lot easier.
i found why its so unstable. it was dongle and mouse in one usb hub. now its better. can finish my projects finaly. btw dongle is a weak side of cubase imho.
I love the dongle, but I wish there was at least a choice to have something else.
Yeah, I have found most audio or dongle related issues disappear if you use them on their own USB bus. ie not a shared bus with other USB devices. My audio I/O has the USB all to its own but I remember having loads of audio clicks, pops and dropouts when it was on the same USB as my laptops fingerprint biometric device. It is something you would not really know was on the same USB bus until you dig deeper into problems, so yes stuff like audio interface and dongle will have problems if they are shared on a USB bus with other devices which constantly have calls to the USB bus.
Well, that’s kinda bad… They should test for a USB hub scenario, enough laptops only have 1 or 2 ports.
It all depends on the hub you are using. I’ve had problems with hubs in the past but I’m having no problems with the hub built into my monitors at the moment. I’ve got extension cables working without a hitch. I’ve no insight into which hubs would work though.
Too many to test, some work some don’t.
A lot of usb3 hubs cause problems, or I should say the ones I have used.
Why?
For me, Cubase 9 is by far the most stable / bug free version ever. This is amazing. I will always choose stability before new features. Always. And so far, I am very happy with 9.
The only new feature I would need to make it the perfect Cubase would be the long awaited bezier curves. If SB can bring it in Cubase 9.5 while preserving stability, it will be the most perfect Cubase ever.
+1!
I have recently upgraded to Cubase 9
2 issues.
Cubase crashes when i try to drag audio into the sampler track ![]()
Also if i am tightening up audio with Variaudio tool in new lower window & click between main screen & lower screen i have to re-select the edit tool everytime which slows workflow right down
I have a quad core Acer laptop 12g ram Win 10. UR122 interface
Cubase 8.5 has been running very stable
you mean to say that if one is to purchase say 9.5 they can upgrade for free to 11 or 12? Really ?That makes absolutely no business sense and is rather annoying for all other buyers who outlay for upgrades in the traditional way and who are unaware of this company ‘oversight’.
