System Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D (16-Core / 32-Thread)
RAM: 64 GB DDR5-6000 MT/s
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Audio Interface: SSL 2+ (using official SSL ASIO Driver)
DAW: Cubase Pro 15.0.30
Project Format: 48 kHz / 24-bit (EastWest Opus orchestral template / heavy VST instruments)
Buffer Size: Tested across 128 / 256 / 512 samples
The Problem:
Despite running a high-end system, Cubase regularly glitches, drops audio, and completely stops recording mid-take while tracking.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted:
Cables & Hardware: Swapped multiple USB cables on the SSL 2+, plugged directly into rear motherboard USB ports (no hubs/isolators).
DPC Latency Check: Ran LatencyMon—Wdf01000.sys and ntoskrnl.exe both sit well under ~0.32 ms, so system DPC latency appears healthy.
Cubase Audio System Settings: ASIO-Guard is enabled (High), Multi-Processing is enabled, Steinberg Audio Power Scheme is active, Audio Priority set to Boost.
CPU / OS Tuning: Adjusted Windows Power Plan settings (Ultimate/High Performance), tested CPU core parking adjustments for the 7950X3D dual-CCD architecture (3D V-Cache CCD vs Frequency CCD).
Questions:
Has anyone encountered specific thread-scheduling conflicts between the Ryzen 7950X3D’s asymmetric CCDs (V-Cache vs. standard cores) and the real-time ASIO engine in Cubase / EastWest Opus?
Are there known AMD USB chipset dropout quirks with the SSL 2+ on AM5 motherboards, and would a dedicated PCIe USB card or specific BIOS setting (Global C-States / CPPC preference) resolve the mid-recording aborts?
There is video of the issue however it got corrupted but you can still hear it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
