Now i planning buy Cubase Artist 15 and maybe Absolute. I bought Sample Tank 4 max (promo) and i have question: external USB SSD drive 2TB will be ok to sound banks? I think about Kingstone XS1000 S. I will upgrade my Ryzen 2600, to ryzen 5700X. I use board Asrock B450 4PRO.
Hi, welcome.
You may want to change your title, as it is, people have no idea what this topic is about and may pass it by. Make it about using external drives for sample libraries.
Personally, I wouldn’t use an external drive for sample libraries, I use a 2 TB internal one. But I believe others have used them successfully.
I have problem - what is better? Now my PC have disc C Plextor 512 GB. Will be ok if i install disc 2TB for windows, cubase and libraries?
The connection of an internal SSD is faster than external interfaces. Thunderbolt 4 is coming close to internal SSDs, but still not the same.
So internal SSDs allow you to load faster than loading from external. I have everything on an internal 2TB SSD and only projects are saved on external SSD via USB 3.2
That will not work, 512GB is a small disk these days.
A 2TB SSD is fine.
Thank you very much!!! Now i understand idea. Now I have to look for 2TB disc (TLC and DRAM).
I buy Ryzen 5700X and Kingston KC3000 2TB. Plextor with windows now is in slot M2_1, but I will preinstal in slot M2_2, Kingston instal in slot M2_1. I hope that will be ok.
