Cubase Artist 6.5 Runtime Error

Recently I have been getting increasing instances of a deathly “Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library” error when using Cubase.
“This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way”
I have no choice but to close the whole thing down and lose unsaved work.

It is most often triggered by adding an Effect, specifically Roomworks SE Reverb.
Anyone have ideas as to whats going on?
Is there a setting I can change somewhere? A reinstall of something?
Or might it just mean my PC is on the way out?
Any help appreciated

Been getting the same runtime message but with Groove agent, Halion SE, Padshop and Retrologue plugins. Tried uninstalling them and reinstalling. No luck. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Cubase. No luck. Tried cleaning the registry. No luck. I don’t think it’s your PC because, for me, everything else runs just fine.
Maybe try turning off effects you think are causing the crash in the VST plugins page in Cubase and see if it still crashes. You’ll find the culprit eventually. Then find it’s .dll and rename it .OLD. That’s all I can think of right now.
