I have a work station 128gb ram. But i still have audio drop out. My computer usage shows only 35% max. I have tried all normal stuff from buffer to power scheme etc but nothing works other software go up to 70 % of cpu usage and works fine but on cubase i dont know whats going on.
Sorry, but there are few obvious missing infos, important when audio drop outs are involved :
- How old is your system (processor, HDDs/SSDs…) ?
- What OS are you using with it ?
- What is the audio interface and does it have a dedicated ASIO driver ?
- When are the audio drop outs occuring (tracking, mixing, rendering) ?
- What is the other software evoked and is it using the same audio interface driver ?
Beside this, it could be a looooot of things… But one is sure : even with 512 Gb of RAM (don’t know if possible, yet…), you could stumble on audio drop outs if something gets in the way when the system is processing an audio flow in real time. And often, these are either :
- any sleep mode (monitor, USB…) active, whether in the OS settings or in the BIOS/UEFI ones.
- any wi-fi/bluetooth added devices working in the background.
- an incorrect setting in your Studio > Studio Setup panels (ASIO Guard…) or in your interface control software (latency…)
- too many plug-ins in an FX chain, set on just one track.
- 742 tracks with 183 groups and a whopping total of 1164 plug-ins used…
After this, the culprit can be more vicious, or a combination of different ones.
So, if your system is Windows 10/11 based, I would suggest to download and install LatencyMon , and let it run during about 20 minutes. The installation is easy and it will probably give you hints about what could be going on. Let us know the results, if possible.
If your system is under MacOS, I’ll let others more competent than me chime in…
