Cubase Audio Outputs (1/2 vs 3/4) into TotalMix FX

I’m running Cubase 15 out to an RME UCXII using TotalMix FX. My monitors are connected to UCX outputs 1/2. I am not using ControlRoom.

I just installed Cubase 15 on a new build but I had the same problem on my last build with Cubase 14. When Audio Outputs are set to AN 1/2 I get no sound. When set to AN 3/4 I get sound.

Hi @RollinHand,

I don’t own the UCXII (UFXII here), but TMFX is pretty much the same software, at least when it comes to the logic of routing interfaces.

To me, it looks like you might have the Main Out assigned to AN3/4 instead of AN1/2 in RME TMFX.
Please, check the “Assign“ button at the right bottom corner of your Main Out panel in TMFX.

Additionally, above you have the option to choose between displaying the name “Main” or AN1/2 etc., by clicking “Names” on the light blue area “View Options.” Currently, you only see “Main,” and we don’t know what’s underneath - I guess it could be AN3/4, but that’s just a guess.

I think OPs issue is with the software plaback channels, not with the hardware ouputs.

Personally I would post this issue on the RME forum.

… and read up on submixes and how to set them up in TotalMix. This is not a Cubase issue.

These were all very useful suggestions.
Indeed I did have AN 3/4 selected for MAIN, so that has solved the problem.
And I have started RTM to really learn how to use TotalMix.
