The Cubase Project Backup feature has improved enormously over the years; but one aspect in particular has driven me nuts for ages. It’s really a Windows issue, but there are Command Line utilities out there, so Steinberg must be able to address this.
I’ve gone back to fiddle with /“improve” (maybe) a number of old projects, often due to improved CB features or plugins, or to replace a take that’s bugged me. I like to preserve project history/ versions. Trouble is, creating a new backup overwrites all audio, etc. file dates to the current archive date. Once done, I have no efficient way of identifying old vs. new files. Yes, there are workarounds like leaving the original project intact & creating a complete duplicate to work from on revisions, but it starts to defeat the purpose of having clean, compact file storage.
Older Windows versions allowed you to change the system clock time, do your thing and change back, but that sets off all kinds of alerts in Win10/11, screws up licensing, etc.
Anyone know of a fix for this that allows date preservation while still making use of CB’s backup? Steinberg … you seeing this?
Thanks.
