I have noticed that Cubase has some issues when dealing with the track of a new audio output of a device.
For example, when I create a Drum Machine device and I activate more audio outputs, it automatically creates new tracks below the main instrument:
Looks good so far. But when I make stuff in the new track for the Output 2, some issues arise.
For one, when I try to add an insert effect, and I try to add a Modulator, nothing happens, so I am forced to manually open the Modulator tab of the mixer and then add the Modulator source and manually select the parameter I want to modify.
The other issue I have encountered is that when I moved an insert effect in this track, it automatically muted the automation I had in one of its parameters, so then I clicked on Undo button of the mix, but it made Cubase to crash because a warning window appeared and repeated itself indefinitely:
And 3rd: if you have the option in Preferences of “Suspend the processing of VST3 Plugins when there is no audio signal being received” unchecked, it will mute the Audio and the Modulators of the tracks of the Outputs 2, 3, 4, etc. This one was a headache to find the reason, I discussed this one in full detail in another topic, but one of the things that I did first was to create duplicated dummy MIDI track that “forced” the instrument and modulators to always be awaken. But now I know that the issue can be work-arounded by deactivating that single option in the Preferences. The problem is, of course, that it also will keep on its “awake” state to all the rest of VST3 instances that you have in your project, so this is not a definitive fix.
So yeah, activating extra Outputs for a device = issues and bugs on the new tracks.
