Cubase Changing Midi Outputs On It's Own (BUG REPORT)

Cubase changes midi track outputs back to 1/2 when reopening and closing folders.

Cubase 13 Folder Track Bug (youtube.com)

I ran another test on an empty project and outputs still get changed randomly on its own after reloading the project.

Steps I took on a newly created empty project:

  1 . Load a rack instrument ( I have tested VEP 7 and Kontakt 7)
  1. Create 10 midi tracks and attach them to the rack instrument.
  2. Assign each midi track with a separate output 1/2 - 3/4 - 5/6 etc…
  3. Put all the tracks into a folder track, close and reopen it.
  4. Save the project
  5. Reload the project - everything will look normal until you try and close and reopen the folder.

Many outputs are changed back to 1/2 again after closing and opening the folder.

I have been experiencing a slightly different issue but your post made me think if I am having a related issue.

In short, I have multiple MOTU MIDI Express devices. In the software Cubase is sometimes not getting the port numbers on the MOTU correct.

For example, if I have a Korg Minilogue plugged into midi in/out 4 on the MOTU, Cubase is receiving that information from Port 3. A MIDI part won’t play on the synth if sent to Port 4, but it will play if sent to Port 3. This happens regardless of what specific MIDI channel is being sent.

A new one today was the actual MIDI device got shifted. They will show (at least in Windows) as “2 - Port 4 on MXPXT” or “3 - Port 4 on MXPXT” (if you haven’t renamed them) . Today, a previous project made in Cubase 12 would not play being sent to the “3 -” version, but when I sent it to “2 -” everything magically worked.

So it might appear as if there is just some bug when bug keeping track of any MIDI track information in C13.

Sounds like a related issue to me , I too myself gave it the benefit of the doubt at first but when I have everything numbered correctly and lined up on thousands of tracks. It became clear Cubase itself kept changing output on it’s own.

Hmmm… I was just using sends to send a single MIDI track to multiple vocoders. I swear my sends were being undone. I assumed I did something or misremembered something. I’m going to keep a closer eye out.
