The new cubase color preferences is not usable. My color preferences templates from previous versions are completely broken . I tried to recreate them but this new UI is confusing and doesn’t have much to know what the numbers on the sliders mean. Lastly one huge thing is I can’t use the Alt option to pick a color from any other cubase panel. Steinberg, if it aint broken don’t fix it! At least bring back the previous UI flow
Fully agree, sadly.
Once upon a time, a user was making screenshots when seeing colors that he liked to convert them to either RGB values or HSV ones in a graphic application such as Paint.NET, these being used to define colors in Cubase UI afterwards.
No longer possible, as the new settings refer to nothing that he knows of… ![]()
are u saying the 3 sliders are for RGB?
The opposite. I guess I haven’t been clear enough in my previous post…
and what exactly is the opposite? I want to see if i can atleast make my colors elsewhere in figma or something then i can transfer the value to cubase
The opposite is that we no longer can use the different sliders as either RGB or HSV ones.
Actually, the color settings in C15 are stored in the UserPreferences.xml, one of Cubase preferences files. For a given parameter, some of the values are stored as defined in Cubase preferences panels, but not all of them. In example, we have this, for the arrange page background (the actual color of it being RGB 36/38/39 - HSV 200/7/15) :
Seeing this, an immediate question arise : where does the first value (the one starting with “L”) come from ? It could be more or less dependent of the predefined “Default Color Schemes”, but I haven’t found an eventual relation with them, yet, if there is any.
Overall, I am still wondering why the Steinberg headquarters have spent ressources implementing such a color management, which is a regression, to replace the already existing and functional one. This, as there are so many other issues waiting for fixes. ![]()
I see, so sad
so no being from steinberg is gonna drop in and explain this ?? what is going here!!?
Why won’t Steinberg just make Cubase look similar to Logic ? Logic has the most perfect GUI that’s easy on the eyes, clean and organized. Cubase GUI reminds me of Windows 98
Because it’s a matter of taste. Some will agree to your statement, and some disagree.
As always, those who are complaining about the current GUI look-and-feel are loud and visible, and the ones who like it do not bother to post about it - that’s human.
its not just the gui, our previous colors are broken and we don’t have a way to replicate them in cubase 15
