3 days ago I built a new workstation to run Cubase 8.5. Almost every time I would create a new session and load up a beat on any drive other than my C: drive, Cubase would freeze for like 5 minutes. I downloaded “Process Hacker 2” and “WhatIsHang.exe” to help solve the problem. I analyzed the wait chain. Got the thread ID number. “What Is Hang” gave hints on what might be causing the freeze. Process Hacker2 listed soime DLL’s associated with the non-responding thread. Turns out “dtshl32.dll” (Daemon Tools Pro) was locking up Cubase. It was so entangled, I couldn’t even uninstall Daemon Tools Pro without shutting down Cubase first. My new Asus motherboard came with a full version of Daemon Tools Pro, so I installed it. Just wanted to share. Maybe someone will search this group one day for “Cubase Not Responding” and read this.
