Cubase download assistant login issue SOLVED!

Hi guys!

Does anybody else get these issues when attempting to access the Downloader assistant from the Desktop? Its happened a few times for me. I have to login via my browser.

This is what it says when it takes me to the browser.

Yes, same here, happens every now and then. I just retry right away and the Steinberg Download Assistent window immediatly pops up with everything working as expected. So I don’t mind getting this message.

Is it different on your system?

It happens to me every single time I open the SDA. I just click OK, type in my credentials and it opens.

When i click “ok” after the login failure my browser opens up and takes me to the Steinberg website then Download Assistant opens. Weird.

Its not a major thing i was just curious if anyone else had this popup when accessing Download Assistant.

Kinda glad im not the only one lol

Is it possible that you have blocked cookies in your web browser?

This sounds like the SDA can’t find the stored login credentials anymore

Yes, I run my browser in private mode so nothing is saved after each session.

The SDA behaviour doesn’t surprise me as it doesn’t know that I’ve logged in previously.

Not that im aware of. I do regulalry clean cache delete browsing history and cookies on my browser just to keep things tidy and to make sure im not still logged into any websites.

I know my AVG is a terminator when it comes to blocking stuff…i suppose thats a good thing…i guess.

Like i say its not an end of the world run to the supermarket and buy all the toilet paper bread and milk situation just more of a curiosity.

And that is the cause of the problem. If you delete the cookies you delete the credentials for the SDA and Activation Manager and that leads you to the browser login page.

However, it’s your choice

Makes perfect sense! Thanks Juergen \m/

Does one have to delete cookies in Microsoft’s Edge on Windows in order to cause this issue? I am using a non-Edge browser and have cookies deleted after each session. I have to re-login at SDA via the webpage maybe once per year only.

That is a good question. I’m also using a non-Edge browser, Vivaldi, and have changed every single occurence of Edge in the Windws Settings to this browser.

I’ve just did a test by starting Edge, removing everything it still had stored (Cookies, Browser History, etc.) and then started the SDA again. It logged in to my account without issues, so it can’t get it from Edge.

To be honest, after some slightly more intensive search I’m not sure where this information is really kept. I don’t want to clean the Vivaldi cache at the moment, so I need to do more test at a later time.
