Really wish the new Drum Machine had a bit more functionality, namely the ability to loop samples within drum pads and also warp to the project tempo. This would not be as necessary if the built in sampler was able to do multisampling but thats another limitation we must live with.
Have you tried Groove Agent SE for such tasks?
I think the idea is to keep Drum Machine basic, while GA SE is to be used when more than the basics are needed.

Use the included Groove agent SE it’s a very powerful Sampler incorporating both multi-sampling and sample looping.
Groove Agent definitely seems like the answer, the omittance of “tape” audiowarp mode is a bit frustrating, thanks either way
