CUBASE DUBSTEP TUTORIAL-My new projects don't open that way

I was watching a cubase tutorial

And as you see when the cubase project is opened there is a measure called “0”. My CUBASE opens up with the 1st measure as “1” What the heck is going on??? What version of CUBASE is this and how do I get the meaure called “0”



Very frustrating when you are trying to learn and you get things like this to deal with.

Set your left locator to bar 0 and save as a template called default. It will ask you if you want to replace the existing one. Say yes, re-open a default session from templates and voila.

The next snag is they tell you tell you to press “/” on your Num Pad.

I don’t have a “Num Pad” and when I press the “/” (underneath my ? on my keyboard) on my keyboard nothing happens.

So if you don’t have a “Num Pad” then what?

Unfortunately, my left locater only goes down to “1” not “0” so I can’t set it there because it doesn’t exist. :frowning:

Ok, in this video when they enter the key editor and they start entering notes, the notes all have a label such as “D2/50” etc… When I draw notes it just show up as a red bar with no label. How can I fix that ?

You need to spend some time with the manual. What version of Cubase are you using? It’s usually a good idea to post your computer and software specs in a signature.

Yes, I need to spend more time with the manual. I was hoping for a quick answer. Also, I just went and tried to find the manual to download but can not find it anywhere. Can you send a link to the PDF please?


Also, is there a way to pause these videos? I feel like I am watching a magic trick at times they go so fast. Makes it very frustrating trying to match settings to the video

On the top of your screen-the help menu. Find documentation there. Also, post your computer specs.
Those are not videos, they’re GIFs, and I don’t know anything about managing them.

Tonic does not load anymore…to add insult to injury the steinberg logo is right there on the tonic insert in the video.


I have a mac ver 10.7.1

MY processor is 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo if that helps anyone help me. …And I am using CUBASE 6

You sure about that? JHP used it in one of his last tutorials, so I doubt that.

If it’s included with the C6 package, it’s missing in mine…and no, I wasn’t sure, which is why I said “I believe…” :slight_smile:
