I just sent out this email to Yamaha Support.I had a 40-minute remote session on Thursday, August 8, with one of your tech support staff to help me with a problem I have with Cubase Elements 13 not recording on midi tracks. He said he would get back with me after failing to solve the issue. I still haven’t heard back from anyone on this support case. I have spent hours in tutorial videos trying to figure this out to no avail. Now I get nothing from your support staff. If your flagship product won’t perform the most basic function of a DAW program it’s not worth the money I spent with your firm. Maybe if I start bitching on social media it will get your attention.
Umm, this is a user forum. If you were to describe your problem there are lots of folks here that can offer advice. Often a screenshot or two to see settings can be helpful.
Using Windows 10 64 bit running Cubase Elements 13 off a Native Instruments SK88 Mk2 controller. Starting a blank Midi track with Midi routing selected Komplete Kontrol DAW input. Record is enabled. The track indicates incoming midi data and the track turns red but no data is recorded on the track.
As I’ve replied in another post of yours, you shouldn’t use the DAW port for inputting MIDI notes. You should really use the KOMPLETE KONTROL -1 port.
Out of curiosity, I’ve downloaded CB 13 LE so that I can see if there is really something wrong. Nothing. Everything works as expected.
Here’s a part of my MIDI Port Setup:
As you can see, I have not the DAW port in the “Active” ports (i.e. the ports into the “All” list).
Now, in an instrument track, I have simply the “ALL MIDI Inputs” selected, and I get the MIDI notes as expected.
If the above doesn’t work for you, my opinion is that you should get in touch with NI.
In my screenshot I have the Komplete Kontrol In - 1 (I write it the way it appears on your PC) checked to the SECOND checkbox as well as the first, where you clearly have it unchecked.
OK, moving forward, what is the MIDI Remote Controller assigned to the In-1 Port? Did you create a MIDI Remote surface? It might consume the midi notes.
