Cubase hangs at "Connecting Media" on sample rate mismatch (Behringer X-USB), no warning shown

Hi,

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Sound card / audio interface (Behringer X-USB driver) configured at one sample rate (e.g. 48 kHz).
  2. Open/load a Cubase project that was saved at a different sample rate (e.g. 44.1 kHz).
  3. Result: Cubase hangs at “Connecting Media” indefinitely, with no dialog, warning, or error message shown. The only way out is to force-quit Cubase.

Expected behavior: In earlier Cubase versions, opening a project with a mismatched sample rate would finish loading and show a yellow sample rate at the top indicating the mismatch, instead of freezing.

System info:
OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2, build 26200.9168
Cubase: 15.0.30, build 287
Audio interface driver: Behringer X-USB
Already tried: reinstalling the driver as Administrator - issue still occurs

Note: I searched and found a similar report (“Cubase 14 Pro - Projects hang at ‘Connecting Media’”), but that one was on a Focusrite interface and was resolved by an admin driver reinstall, which did not fix this for me on the Behringer X-USB driver, so posting separately.

Thanks!

Is that an ASIO driver?
