Cubase have problem with render bbcso

Hi everyone!

I’m having trouble rendering in place with BBCSO instruments in Cubase, both in version 14 and 15 Pro.

When I render in place with a BBCSO event, it renders random silences in the middle of phrases.
I’ve tried all sorts of suggested configurations, MIDI settings, and studio settings, but nothing works.
I’ve also modified the buffer settings and other BBCSO features to try and improve performance.
I have a Pentium Core i7, 64GB of RAM, and an SSD.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I’m having no problems with other VSTs.

Thanks!

I can’t help you with changing the settings to get it to work, but when I have any issues with render-in-place, my go-to workaround is to just create an audio track and record the audio in real time.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Your suggestion is correct, but I was looking for something that wouldn’t take more time. Best

Same problem here with BBCSO Core!

Playback in the BBCSO instrument track works, but the RIP produces audio with volume jumps, glitches, and silence.

I once had a similar problem with a HALion patch - I increased the number of voices from 128 to 256 and it was cured. Note ending tails can take up a lot of voices.
No idea if this instrument has such a setting…

Hi! Thanks for the replies. I’ve already modified all those values, and while it improved, the random cuts in the WAV file are still appearing.

Hi, we may have solved the problem!

I increased the values for:

  • Preload Size
  • Stream Buffer Size
    About doubling the default values.

The problems seem to have been eliminated.

Prerequisite:
Play the project from start to finish before RIPping (since the Eco-Load feature is enabled).

NB
With the Eco-Load feature disabled, the Prerequisite may not be necessary. I’ll have to test it.

Let me know if this is the solution.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Actually, I have the values much higher than double, and the problem persists.

I tried your settings, and the same problem occurred.
Just to clarify, the silences happen when I render individual tracks, never when I export an entire project.

I understand,
there must be a Steinberg/Spitfire bug for RIP/BBCSO.

I know this bug has been around for a long time; it was discussed many years ago on this forum and on the (now closed) Spitfire forum.

It’s crazy to proceed with RIP and listen to the entire result in real time to make sure there are no bugs, track by track!

I’m holding up my hands and waiting confidently; in the meantime, I’ll try other good libraries.

Update (relative):
The problem has been reduced to almost zero!
By keeping the settings previously described,
removing unused articulations and disabling Echo-Load.

Once the Instrument Track is enabled, BBCSO will load only the project articulations, and they will be immediately available (the previously mentioned prerequisite of playing the entire project is no longer necessary). At this point, start the RIP.

The error can still occur, so the solution isn’t definitive, but it significantly streamlines the workflow.
