I don’t know if this is something that only happens with me, but I sometimes just want to open Cubase without having do to the whole song and dance of turning 3 midi devices on and wait for them to be picked up by Windows. There’s only one problem though. Cubase will take twice the amount of time to open and will hang for about 1-2 minutes after a project is created or opened when those devices are not detected. Why is that?

I’m not sure what you are running into here with a 1-2 minute delay, but if you are on Windows 11 25h2 or later, there are significant performance improvements to MIDI service startup and device enumeration time coming in the November release. On a PC with many devices, it can cut it by a factor of 10. (In my case, with dozens of devices attached, it went from over 30 seconds to 3 seconds)

Have you tried removing the devices from Windows and then reinstalling them?
