Cubase LE AI Elements 11 keeps crashing

Hey there, I can’t quite wrap my head around this error I’ve been having…
Everytime I boot up cubase it freezes. I then have to close it in task manager. After trying to run it again, it always shows the error window “Safe Mode” and it only runs when I select “delete programm settings”.

Have any of you experienced something similar?
Thanks in advance

Software used: Win 11 Pro | Cubase LE AI Elements 11.0.40

Hi and welcome to the forum,

That means the defaults.xml from the preferences doesn’t work as expected. Do (did) you have an older Cubase version installed? If yes, you can try to rename/remove Cubase 11 and Cubase 10, Cubase 9… preferences folders, to get the factory settings of Cubase 11.

Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Cubase X_64

Where the X is the Cubase version (for example 13).

Depending on your real edition, if you are using Cubase LE or Cubase AI, you are allowed to update to the latest Cubase 13 for free. You can find the exact edition (LE/AI/Elements) on the About screen, or in the eLicenser Control Center.

Cubase 13 is not using eLicenser anymore and has lots of other news.

I did not have any older versions of Cubase installed.

I’ve got Cubase AI, according to eLicencer Controll Center, but I don’t see where the upgrade is free…

I would like to include pictures but I can’t because I’m a new member -.-

You can try to delete the Cubase 11 preferences folder. Hope it helps.

Please, get in touch with your local Steinberg support.
