I’m on Windows 7, I’ve recently bought a studio package and Cubase comes as a part, I’ve downloaded, installed and set up the license on it, however when I attempt to open it, after selecting my audio option, there is a popup which says there’s a ‘problem’ and it has ‘stopped working’ ??? The programme then closes and I’m unable to use it.

What Audio Device do you use? Make sure, you have the latest driver installed, please.
I am having a similar issue.
I have rebuilt my DAW setup after my vista machine was getting too slow.
I have used a 4 core Phenon DELL Inspiron desktop with 6GB of RAM.
Windows 7 Professional 64bit - fully patched and up to date before installing LE8
The Cubase LE 8 came with a new Zoon R16 I bought and that was installed and auto-patched as part of the install.
When I ran it for the very first time, it asked which ASIO driver to use
Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver
Roland SC-D70
X(R)18 ASIO Driver
ZOOM R16_R25 ASIO Driver
All these have the most up to date drivers - the XR18 and R16 are new and current products.
Immaterial of which one I pick, I get the “Cubase LE AL Elements has stopped working” message during the “Initializing video Player” bit.

I had been using LE 4 on Vista and had no issues with it so a little unhappy a newer version won’t even boot.
I feel such a fool now.
I had been miss reading atio as asio and assuming it was a musical device issue.
Once I thought about it - Video Player and ATIo… I had a thought.
Sure enough, the video driver was way out of date.
Updated that and now it all works perfectly.
