I am currently blocked and need assistance regarding the migration and activation of my Cubase LE license following the shutdown of the eLicenser service on May 20, 2025.
Here is my situation in detail:
• I own a valid Cubase LE (Soft) license, originally delivered with my audio interface.
• I correctly redeemed my activation code via Steinberg Download Assistant.
• The activation code is recognized as valid.
• Cubase LE 11 is properly installed on my Mac (macOS).
• However, when launching Cubase LE 11, the software automatically opens eLicenser Control Center to activate the license.
• Since the eLicenser service has been discontinued after May 20, 2025, the activation process cannot be completed.
• As a result, no license is detected, and Cubase LE cannot be launched.
I fully understand that:
• The legacy eLicenser system is no longer operational.
• Steinberg has migrated to Steinberg Activation Manager and the new licensing system.
However, in my case:
• Cubase LE 11 still depends on eLicenser for activation.
• I am unable to migrate or activate my license using the new Steinberg tools on my own.
• This completely blocks my installation and prevents me from using Cubase.
What I need help with:
I kindly ask for guidance on how to properly migrate or reassign my existing Cubase LE license so that it can be:
• Activated using Steinberg Activation Manager, or
• Updated / replaced with a compatible version that works with the new licensing system.
This installation is necessary for my work, and I cannot proceed until the license issue is resolved.
Thank you very much for your assistance and for clarifying the correct migration path for users affected by the eLicenser shutdown.
Nice to meet all of you. I want to ask a question about how to update Cubase AI 11 to a newer version with the new License management.
I have Cubase LE AI Elements 11 (bought it with the Steinberg UR22 mk2)
Now I had to switch to a new PC and realized that I am unable to activate since the eLicenser was shut down. Although under my product,s I can see my Cubase AI license.
The license is registered with your MySteinberg email address (Steinberg ID).
Once the Steinberg Download Assistant is installed, you can download and install Cubase 15. The license is activated automatically on first start, but you can also check the license status in the Steinberg Activation Manager application that is installed together with the Steinberg Download Assistant.
The Steinberg Download Assistant is available at Creativity First — Our Passion for Music Inspires | Steinberg
Hello, I bought an UR 22 with cubase AI 7 licence included a decade ago. I just change my mac with a new one under Mac OS Tahoe and it seem that cubase AI7 or elicencing is not compatible anymore with this OS even if I and registered my licence in my Steinberg Account . Is there any solution to upgrade my licence to a compatible cubase version?
Hello, I bought a UR44 in 2020 which came with Cubase 10 AI. Its correctly registered with e-licensing and showing up in my Steinberg account. I moved Basic FX Suite successfully today to Activation Manager, but can’t see anyway of moving Cubase AI over. Do I need a code or something? Thanks for all help
Helle there! I’ve got cubase AI11 with my old pc. i tried to install it on my new one, but didn’t have the serial code that i’ve got after bying my ur22c stainberg interface. Can i get a new one ? or an uprage ?
@Matthias_Quellmann Hi,
appreciate support in getting the upgrade license from Cubase AI to Cubase AI15. I can see the updated version in the Download Assistant but i am not able to activate it.
i used a while ago Cubase AI 11. i dont have E-licenser
Yes, i did. While I see the cubase Ai 15 in my products at tge download assistant i dont see anything in the Activation manager. When I redeem the code it tries to use the old code that points to the old elicenser which is no longer available and I’m stuck in this loop
