Got it. If i upgrade, am I looking at about the same length of time before I’ll need to upgrade again (at like Elements 22 or some such)?
Let’s see. Cubase exists for some 37 years now.
Since then we have one discontinued platform (Atari).
On PC I recall two changes of the copy protection / licensing system, on Mac it was three, if I am not mistaken. Both platforms are supported for more than 30 years now.
So you should be good for at least another ten years.

perhaps i wasn’t clear enough. i bought cubase elements 8 back in the day. i don’t have it on my current system. i can’t download it (although the purchase is right there on my login). i thought maybe the eLicense thing was the issue, but that’s not the case. Ed is telling me to spend $50 to bump elements 8 to 15. i thought 8 was mine indefinitely when i bought it, and that’s fine if i was mistaken. i just want to ensure i don’t find myself in the same boat i am in now down the road before i drop the fifty bucks. (and it hasn’t been 10 years since i purchased elements 8)
now that i think about it i did have LE first and then decided to upgrade to elements 8 - maybe that’s the hang-up?
What if I have both LE and another paid license and decide to upgrade? Do I get to pick if LE gets update or that automatically applies to the paid version?
Ah, okay. Sorry to hear about your Elements license. I don’t understand either why Steinberg doesn’t give affected customers a license to e.g. Cubase Elements 12. That would not be the latest version but would allow customer to continue using Cubase.
As upgrading from Cubase LE and updating/upgrading from a paid version requires a specific purchase, you cannot choose which one to update or upgrade after the purchase.
May I remind everyone that this topic is specifically about upgrading old eLicenser-based Cubase LE (not Cubase Elements!) and Cubase AI licenses? Please use other topics and forum sections for unrelated posts.
I’m asking that because I have one or two LE licenses (not sure) still and I would like one of them to be updated to the newer model but I also have Elements, which I plan to upgrade at some point. But I still want to keep at least one LE license.

I have a Cubase AI 10.5 license that was bundled with my Steinberg UR22mkII audio interface.
I would like to update my old Cubase AI license to the current Cubase AI 15 license under Steinberg Licensing.
In Steinberg Download Assistant, Cubase AI 15 is shown under my registered products, but Cubase AI 15 does not appear in Steinberg Activation Manager. Currently, only Dorico SE is shown in Activation Manager.
Could you please add/update the Cubase AI 15 license to my Steinberg account?
I would also like to upgrade from Cubase AI to Cubase Elements 15.

@BrunoDSL , I have placed a new Cubase LE license for Steinberg Licensing into your account now. Anytime in the future, Cubase Elements 15 can be upgraded, as it is a separate license.
Hi, a new Cubase AI (15) license for Steinberg Licensing is registered with your account now. This one will show up in the Steinberg Download Assistant under “My products” and appears in the Steinberg Activation Manager as well.
