Cubase native compressor changes gain?

Hey guys,

I’m a bit confused about this: I’m using the Cubase stock compressor, for side chain compression. The compressor only works when triggered by another midi channel. But I don’t understand why changing the threshold also changes the output gain? Meaning, lowering the threshold down towards -60db increases the gain. I just want a low threshold for the side chain compression.

If the threshold also controls the gain by default, is there a way to change this behavior?
