Cubase/Nuendo 15?

@TimoWildenhain

Well I know the answer to the question ‘where art thou - Nuendo 15?’ – at least 6 weeks after release of Cubase 15 to take advantages of stability fixes to the ‘sequencer’ branch of the product.

However I did wonder if Timo had given any further thought to his comment last Feb 13th 2025.

‘We could certainly think of an extension for the Cubase trial exclusively for Nuendo users, but that’s not something that can be done overnight, it’s more than changing the duration of the trial. The trial provision workflow service needs to be changed for this. So that could be something to consider for generation 15’.

…….

I’m certainly thinking of downloading the Cubase 15 60 day trial for now but if Nuendo 15 might not be until around March 2026 time i might delay it a bit

Many thanks and best wishes.

I am keen to try out the OmniVoice plug-in but there would be little point, in trialing Cubase if the intention wasn’t for it to be included in Nuendo.

Imagine if Steinberg rolled out a mid-14.5 beta update sneaking in a few C15 features—just with a friendly warning attached. There’s no harm in asking; who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us

I’d be surprised if it wasn’t in Nuendo 15, it’s a headline new feature in Cubase 15 afterall and when I crossgraded back in Cubase 11 I must admit I thought the priciple Cubase features would always carry through to Nuendo. Maybe Timo can kindly reassure us on this point?

I couldn’t ask for more, the sound of that plug-in is amazing, from the video and I have all of the Emvoice One voices, and the two that are the most difficult to record appear to be in the ranges, of what Steinberg are offering so to see if they can be blended together, and what other voices may follow, would be an exceptional gift mid cycle.

He did say he will think about it but N-14.5 with a beta tag would be even better than 5 months extended trial for Nuendo users..

If you’re that serious about AI voice and running a serious production DAW like Nuendo then why not just invest in VOCALOID6? That’s the most professional option Yamaha offers.

Here is a free trial

Or Dreamtonics Synth V, which was miles ahead of Vocaloid last time I listened to them…

I completely agree about SV. I was just thinking if these guys wanted AI voice so bad they could have had years ago with Yamaha VOCALOID integrated into Cubase and Nuendo.

Still on 13, 14 seemed to be a short run now an upgrade cost to 15? So wait for Nuendo 15 or upgrade to 14 now?

I wish Nuendo would include Hatsune Miku as an Assistant Engineer.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I am serious about AI vocal production, and I have looked at Vocaloid however I have Emvoice One, and it works a little bit differently to other systems.

I tried Synthesizer V, and was disappointed by the fact, that while it had an “editor”, it does not recognise variable tempo.

As for the Yamaha offering, I know it has an editor as well but I don’t know if that, again follows changing tempos.

OmniVoice, looks great because it works just like an instrument and takes input from the Key Editor, including text which is a brilliant move from Yamaha and Steinberg.

I will always want to use Emvoice voices but if it is available in the DAW (Cubase AND Nuendo), then that is less I need to look elsewhere for, e.g., to 3rd parties, i.e., VSTi’s.

I may well try Vocaloid but unless there are strictly English recorded phonems, I won’t touch it beacuse I am not inputting slang, just to get a word when emvoice uses structured language.

Regards

@emotive Synthesizer V 2 in ARA bridge mode will follow a tempo map perfectly. I use it in plenty of projects tempo mapped to a live drummer where there are tempo changes every bar and SV2 follows it with no issues. Version 1 didn’t do this and was a total mess regarding tempos.

The only thing I do with Synth V2 these days is run the output through either VocalAI or Suno to get more feeling into the vocal performance. IK’s new ReSing may also be a possibility for doing this (if they ever release it!).

This new OmniVocal plugin doesn’t appear to be anywhere near as advanced as Synth V2 but being integrated rather than ARA is a huge step forward.

I am certainly interested in the IK offering.

From their website, it would seem that you input your vocal (and instrument) tracks, into the software, and it renders new voices or instruments, in it’s place.

For a one-time price, it looks like I may well be buying into that since I can use whatever AI vocal to record stems, and then improve them using ReSing.

Bear in mind that the learning process on the ik involves you first inputting 30min-60min of “your” clean voice captures into the software installed on your local computer.

Not anywhere instant nor guaranteed artifact free. You may in fact, find yourself completely starting over (often) with even creating the 30-60min sources TO be learned by the ik program.

It’ll be a learning curve to to learn how to deal with the learning curve

When you say 30-60 minutes of material, does this mean to generate a new AI model, or is it simply to replace what you provide.

@emotive Yes, ReSing is basically the same as SonarWorks VoiceAI. It does have limitations though (pretty limited note range being the most annoying) which I’m hoping ReSing will improve on. Having said that, the voices are a lot more realistic than Synth V2.

I haven’t pre-ordered ReSing as the information IK have presented so far is minimal and very vague. Will have to wait til it’s released to see if it’s an improvement on SonarWorks.

We’re either talkin sources of ’ “Ik’s already-prepared voices”….or your voice from scratch as “the” voice.

Not only that …but if you have the capability of a gravel Joe Cocker voice….there’s an hour or more to prep…..and …you can sing like a choir boy ….there’s an hour to prep…..etc etc.

I’m keen for anything that will help me complete songs, ready for real musicians and singers to perform with, however I am hopeful that IK Multimedia will not immediately move to a subscription model.
