Cubase on Windows on ARM: emulated 14 or run 13 preview? [Snapdragon CPU]

Im curious which is better. I was going to buy a snapdragon laptop but may hold off depending on the performance of Cubase 14 emulated. Haven’t really heard much from Cubase on ARM, looks like it’s just Cubase 13’d preview version still, with no news of an update or further support.

Has anyone ran a comparison between the two, and if so how well does 14 run in comparison? I’d rather not run an older version, seeing as my projects won’t be compatible with my desktop.

I would hold off for now unless you want to be a beta tester. There is no supported version yet.

Unfortunately I need to pick something up by summer 2025, so hopefully it doesn’t take that long for something new to come out. I don’t really mind a beta as long as it functions well enough to be able to do some work in - I’m unlikely to make comeplete projects on the thing, it’ll mostly just be to get ideas going while I’m on the go.

But i really don’t want to pick up an x86 laptop again due to bad efficency.

Hello and happy festive season everyone.

You know I can’t state dates and such, but a C14 supported ARM version is meant to be released before that time

You might want to wait a little more, see how support goes on and see what the market offers in the next few weeks, then make a decision.

In the meantime, please check this thread Wow-anyone following the MS/Yamaha/Steinberg news? (Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo on Arm64) - #82 by Reco29, in the last few posts you can read up on quite detailed compatibility and performance reports (see posts from @beatpete).

The Elite X-based laptops are good performing machines, we’re testing a few of those from various vendors, and will keep testing more as they come out.

Funny because Cubase 14 runs way better than the Cubase 13 dedicated ARM version already for me.
