Cubase pan law at 0db. Direct monitoring RME mixer at +3??

@toader

This “note” is on Page 214 of the Pro 8 Manual…

“If you are using RME Audio Hammerfall DSP audio hardware, make sure that the pan law is set to -3 dB in the card’s preferences.”
Might be same for your interface?
Hope it helps.

You know, I really love geniuses! :slight_smile: They always help me overcome my own limitations. Thank you fretthefret again for shining a bright light on this situation!!!

It’s not a complete fix this time, only because RME seems to have removed the pan law control from totalmix (FF 800 - Pan law in Totalmix fx 1.05 (Page 1) — TotalMix FX — RME User Forum) Maybe this is the core of the problem. At least we all have a pretty good idea what is happening now! :slight_smile:

@toader

LOL! :laughing: Not so sure I’d go that far and pretty damn sure my wife would disagree with you!
But hey man if it helped at all… then I’ll take the compliment.

@fretthefret, nicely spotted! Thank you.

This is likely due to the fact that rme calibrates 0db using the aes17 spec and cubase does not, using square wave calibration instead. This results in the +3db difference when cubase is at 0db.
