Cubase performance on iMac quad; i5 or i7 ?????

Hi everyone!
:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m about to buy an iMac (OsX Lion), and I was wondering if there was a big difference in performance and technicalities between i5 and i7 quad core iMacs.

I’m looking to buy one of these two:

  • 2.5GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
  • 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

On one of these two, I would like to run Cubase, SampleTank, Toontrack Superior Drummer 2, Waves plugins.
(Probably all in 32 bit)

Would it be a big difference in performance between these two cpu’s ?

Some of you folks have a good experience running Cubase on these computers?

Thanks!

Up!

I am actually considering the same set-up. Did you move forward? Any feedback?

the i7 has more cache and does HT (more cores).
so lower latency ability and more power

what i dont get is why Apple when Cubase runs better on windows
