Hello, i am reading the ‘‘MPEX’’, of the ‘‘Time Stretch and Pitch Shift Algorithms’’, of the ‘‘Cubase Pro 10.0.40 Operation Manual’’.

At the end, there is this note:

‘’ If you apply Pitch Shift as an offline process, you can choose between the regular setting and a setting where the formants are preserved for each quality setting ‘’.

Could you please explain to me, what does ‘‘offline process’’ mean in detail?

In simple terms offline process means it doesn’t run in realtime. In practise to access the functionality mentioned I believe you would need to open the pitch shift in “direct offline processing”.
