Hi!
since I was experiencing some issues with a VST, I had the unfortunate idea to set C: as default folder.
This (of course) resulted in Cubase loading ALL of the files in the folder.
It’s now been 10hrs or so and I’m unable to stop the operation.
Tried relaunching the program but (as expected) it starts reloading all of the files all over again.
Please tell me I don’t have to delete and reinstall Cubase…
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Hi and welcome to the forum,
I would recommend to rename or delete Cubase preferences folder. Then Cubase will start with the factory settings. Cubase preferences folder is located here:
%appData% /Steinberg/Cubase 10.5_64/
It should actually be enough to delete the file ‘Vst2xPlugin SearchPaths Cubase.xml’ from the preferences folder, that way all other settings are kept as they are (before starting Cubase of course)

Thanks so much, guys!
Getting rid of the Vst2xPlugin SearchPaths Cubase.xml file did it for me!
I really appreciate both of your inputs!
