hello
its been about 2 months since the last update , are there any more updates coming for cubase pro 12
they usually appear on Thursdays
cheers for your time !!
They are not weekly updates. They are rather based on important bug fixes being implemented. You’ll usually see some maintenance updates after a new Cubase version comes out, to straighten out issues that are being reported by members.
I don’t work for Steinberg, so I can’t say if there will be any more maintenance updates for Cubase 12. But usually they bring out a new version each year, and we’re in the second half of that year, so my guess is that it is waiting now for Cubase 13 for major improvements. Unless there is something important that the developers still want to address in C12.
Are you having any issues with the 12.0.52 version ? Updates are good if you are having a problem. But on the other hand, too many updates can get annoying also to always have to re-download and re-install a big software like Cubase.
Sometimes in years past, Steinberg will launch one last update after the next version of Cubase launches so it is possible that cubase 13 comes out and then there is a Cubase 12.0.53 or something like that but no gurantee that will happen.
Someone in the know dropped a hint saying a feature will be fixed in the next update , so i will say yes , also IF There 's no .5 release we could potentially see another 5 or 6 updates in 12’s life span
Impatient my favorite plugs don’t work, spire and massive x
Please release an update soon, this is buggy beyond belief…
hello
yes thats what i thought , there should be more updates now that they aint doing .5 updates .
I know updates are not put out weekly , but when they come out it is usually on a Thursday , whether that be a week month or two . As its been about 2 months since last big update ( not hotfixes ) so hopefully soon as 12.52 aint to stable on my system
cheers !!
It was 3 months for them to sort out the simple midi note alinement ,so who knows
Wasn’t it Wednesdays that updates came out?
Are there any particular bugs you’re hoping to get fixed? Or are you hoping for new features? Usually the updates just fix things, they rarely add new functionality/plugins/features. It will be C13 before we see any exciting new stuff. I’d advise you to just make your music in the meantime.
i aint looking for new features or content just looking for more stability , i get random crashes , a more solid version
i am pretty sure updates come out on thursdays
Based on the release notes.

Cubase 12.0.20 - April 27, 2022 (Wed)
Cubase 12.0.30 - June 8, 2022 (Wed)
Cubase 12.0.40 - August 3, 2022 (Wed)
Cubase 12.0.50 - November 3, 2022 (Thurs)
Cubase 12.0.52 - November 22, 2022 (Tues)
I mean, there will be more updates of course, but when, and what they consist of who knows. Don’t even know if next paid version will be 12.5 or 13.0 - or whether that’s this year or next.
If you’re getting crashes, it may be something more specific with your setup perhaps? I have one or two a month but they are related to a plugin I use as… So it’s pretty annoying, but don’t entirely think it’s a Steinberg issue in my case. EuCon (Avid controller software) has caused a crash when quitting a project a few times, also.
Perhaps make a thread with detailing your crashes and attach a crash dump and someone can help you solve it?
From what I understand, there will no longer be .5 upgrades so the next Cubase will be Cubase 13. It doesn’t however change the release date. It is always around a year for the next upgrade.
i see what you mean by mostly Wednesdays , i stand corrected on that , cubase sometimes doesn’t load project and just crashes before loading , i have a crash dump if any one can make heads or tails out of it , it would be much appreciated !!
Cubase 12.0.52.393 64bit 2023.2.4 15.57.50.954.dmp (820.0 KB)
I think that version 12.060 is coming
that would be great , hopefully not to much longer as well !! loving cubase pro 12 , just need more stability on my machine ( which is quite old old )
I personally think that constant updates is proof of unfinished programming. In other words a software that is not complete.
To even becoming custom to and even expect it is something like the sign of the times.
Do you ever remember the good old QUALITY times where an update was ONLY due to nice addons or panic error corrections?
I see your point, but I would like to develop it further with some insight.
True, back in the day software updates were something occasional and even, to some extent and in some cases, unnecessary in grand scheme of things but platforms and operating systems were hardly as diverse and complex as they are today. Also, although Cubase feels like a very complete and sturdy package, it’s still riddled with little bugs and annoyances that take from the overall experience of use (for example, it screwed over a very important classical recording I was doing a couple of weeks ago because of a tiny “recording stopped because of an audio dropout problem”, which was of great annoyance and was something that even the bug-riddled and sometimes-unreliable Pro Tools hasn’t done to me whilst recording). I own Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper, Digital Performer, Ableton Live and Cubase and I favor Cubase over all of these, so I talk from a place of what I feel to be a very diverse and informed experience; and although Cubase is my favorite, it’s not the most stable and snappy of these platforms.
Take Reaper, for example. It’s not my to-go choice (I mostly use it because I teach audio production at college level and it’s a DAW that all of my students can “freely” use) but it’s stable as hell. It’s never crashed on me, its snappy and quick and the constant update cycle (it updates every two weeks, more or less) makes it feel like the developers are really polishing the experience. I don’t like the default GUI or the extreme customizability of it (in the same way I couldn’t care less that Android is 150% more customizable than iOS, I’m still an iPhone user because I feel comfortable in their ecosystem) but hey, it is what it is. I do not wish to turn this post into a “what makes other DAWs better than Cubase” discourse because that couldn’t be further from my intent (I already expressed that Cubase is my favored DAW) but definitely Steinberg could learn a thing or two about how other companies handle their update cycles and even business models. I’ve tried to migrate to Logic Pro as my “main” creative/composing platform several times because I know it’s an incredible bang-for-the-buck package but I always come back to Cubase because I like the way the software handles some tasks better, but it’s impressive that the software I bought like 8 or 7 years ago is still getting major updates, GUI overhauls, plug-ins and instruments. It makes me feel like my investment was worth it, which I do not always feel with the Steinberg model.
I understand that it’s mildly unfair to compare Steinberg to Apple, as they are completely different companies running on different business and methodological schematics (I’m well aware of the “they-don’t-need-to-charge-more-for-Logic-because-you-already-paid-for-a-Mac” discourse) but sometimes I do feel forsaken by the company when I already paid 99 USD for a “major” version upgrade and the bug fixes are scarce and not constant. It’s not entirely the development team’s fault, as I’m well aware that Cubase is built over probably decades of old code and programming, but having 3 or 4 small updates before another “big” paid update comes to fix several of my annoyances make me feel like I’m in a friendlier version of Avid’s evil business model: You “own” the software but you need to pay yearly for updates and support. With Steinberg, I know that I’m probably getting a couple more handy Cubase 12 updates once 13 (or 12.5?) comes along if I decide to not upgrade, but I know that I’m gonna miss the big fixes, enhancements and overhauls. I dunno, it’s a weird feeling.
How awesome would it be that we got paid upgrades not every year, but every TWO years? Maybe have the .5 versions be free upgrades to owners of the .0 version. Of course, this is not going to happen but a man can dream, can he not? And to close my train of thought: just as the OP said, I do miss sometimes the feeling of buying a software and having it be sturdy and completely reliable from day 1. I realize it’s not a simple as that, but nostalgia can be a bitch.
To Stone1888.
I’m no specialist, but it looks like your crash was caused by a VST called Bias FX 2 and I am guessing that it is a 32bit plug that it might have been bridged as it has “x64” as a suffix.
