Cubase Pro 14.32 Behringer XR18 ASIO Driver Stopped Recording and Play Back (Windows 10)

I am using Windows 10 on an extended support state and am using Cubase Pro 14.32 along with Behringer XR18 ASIO Driver. I can no longer record using the ASIO driver from Behringer. Yesterday it would play back sound from the DAW, but today it won’t play back or record where as yesterday it would at least play back. I updated my Firmware on the XR18 and added the newest XR18 USB driver and ASIO driver there is for Windows but still no luck inside the DAW. Both yesterday and today the XR ASIO driver is working for youTube videos or any windows related activity but not inside of Cubase 14 pro. I have turned off all the Windows onboard sound drivers so only the Behringer Driver is working on the system. The only thing it can be is a USB cable or the driver or both, but it also seems like it could be some setting inside of Cubase 14 that is not letting audio either to the DAW or from the DAW. Two days before this started I did make a custom macro for exploding Chords but other than that, not sure what could make this change.

When i get into the driver from the Windows start menu it shows it greyed out, but its odd that it still works for youTube. There was a crash with Cubase a few weeks ago where it put it into Safe mode but it was working after that, but it now is not. I have checked msconfig file to see if Windows was in Safe Mode but it is not.

If anyone has some ideas of how i could get inside of Cubase to set something or see something to take it out of Safe Mode that would be nice.

Something i have seen and maybe someone can help with is, i am using Control Room for my output. I suppose i could try it just with Regular Outs, but is there a proper way i can get Control room to work? Originally, i had a mono out in outputs that was converted into Control Room but i have also had stereo outs in Output and then had it converted to Control Room. I have had a lot of problems with it, so it could be that as well.

also, the first thing i noticed that didn’t work for recording was the metronome no longer worked

I’m not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean Device Manager? Can you post some screen shots?

Other items:

  • Windows also includes a generic USB Audio Class 2 driver. Are you sure that the Behringer driver is in use? How did you verify this?
  • Please post a screen shot of your Studio setup audio page from Cubase – the part that shows the driver in use.

I’m happy to say I figured out my problem. For reasons unknown to me all the channels routing inside cubase had changed to no bus rather than Out on the mixer. Also I found that in control room it had been deactivated some how.
