Hi,
I’ve been working on a project for over a year, but occasionally Cubase freezes during loading, I suspect this issue may be related to IK Multimedia SampleTank 4.
I also carefully reinstalled IK SampleTank 4 following all the instructions provided by IK Multimedia.
Temporary workaround:
• Restart Windows
• Open an empty project
• Rescan the SampleTank 4 library
• Load my SampleTank 4 preset used in my project
• Close Cubase
• Reopen Cubase
• Load my project again
This resolves the issue about 90% of the time.
I’ve been experiencing this problem for over a year. In that time, I’ve updated all software, plugins, drivers, and every plugin used in the project but nothing has changed.
The second crash dump definitely points to SampleTank4 as the culprit (a plugin I also had several crashes when I used it, especially with the libraries).
One thing to check is to go to the plugin’s settings and make sure that all Sound content paths point to valid directories and which contain actually ST libraries. Remove all where that is not the case, rescan.
I assume you have the latest update installed?
If the issue persists, I would open a ticket with IK.
Hi, I’ve been experimenting with different approaches to resolve the issue, and the good news is that the project is stable now.
Details:
- I created a new template in Cubase, but the same problem occurred: the system froze when loading the specific patch (From Bell to Organ).
- To fix this, I removed the ST4 instance where that patch was loaded, saved the template, and ran it again—this worked fine.
- I then re-added ST4, loaded my multi, saved the template again, and it continued to work without issues.
- For my main project, I couldn’t afford to lose all the automation data. Instead of manually copying and pasting, I used Cubase’s backup feature. So far, the backed-up project loads without any problems.
I’ll provide another update in a couple of weeks with the final results. Hopefully, this solution holds.
