Ever since updating to Cubase Pro 15.0.10 on my studio PC with Windows 11 I hear the standard Windows “boing” notification sound everytime I load an effect plugin. Reverting to 15.0.6 fixes this issue instantly and re-installing 15.0.10 brings it back.
I can’t confirm - doesn’t happen here on my system. And I cannot recall that something like that ever happened on any system no matter which Cubase version.
I didn’t turn off anything…
I only hear Windows sounds in Cubase if I activate a dedicated monitoring track. Even with monitor active on said monitoring track I don’t get any notification sounds when I open a plugin.
I have the same issue, but it seems its only for some 3rd party plugins. for example all the UAD plugins I’ve tried, load without the notification sound, but loading Plugin Alliance plugins like the MC77 this happens.
It’s starting to get quite annoying, so I hope it’s fixed/reverted back soon.
When I load a plugin from the add insert menu, I tend to use the ‘search’ function and type what I’m after, because it is much faster than navigating menus. This keeps me in my flow…
But… After I type my search query and press ‘Enter’ to load the exact resulting plugin from the query, I get the notification sound!
On the other hand, if I type my query and then ‘click’ the plugin from the menu to load it… NO notification sound!
Is there a place to report bugs for Cubase? I used to be a Software Tester for some years, so I’m happy to fill out what ever they need for a proper bug report.
yeah same it’s absolutely maddening and I can’t even figure out how to just turn off my windows sounds (I’m on windows 10 btw). I’ve tried toggling ‘‘Allow notifications to play sounds’’ but to no joy. ARRGG
this is correct, but may not be enough: Windows 11 uses two different kinds of system sounds to “notify about something”:
the “classic” one with its old settings interface, some of which is also accessible via the new settings pages, and
an additional shell-embedded notification sounds layer that is only accessible via the new settings pages.
I usually turn both of them off, although sometimes the embedded sounds fader disappears from the new settings page after a while. To me this behavior seems a bit strange.
