When I created a new project in 14 pro, I was able to save the file to my desktop AND give the saved file a title that was specific to the song / recording date, which allowed me to keep my files in order but I cant to do this in 15 pro??
If I open hub settings, when “Use Default Location” is checked, it shows Desktop, but it also shows a file name I used earlier, and I cannot remove it!!
If “Use Default Location” is NOT checked, when I close and save Cubase, I have to click on Desktop for saving location, then name the file.
This then gives me a folder on my desktop titled “Audio”, PLUS a “.cpr” file with the name I have given it, but it is OUTSIDE the “Audio” folder??
It was so much easier with 14, I really don’t know why this part of Cubase Pro has been changed? Can anybody point me in the right direction to get back to an easy life please?
You don’t have to use Desktop(you really shouldn’t)–you can choose whatever location you want. It’s best to create a new folder for each project, so your audio files, track pictures, and autosaves in the folder are only for that project.
The .cpr file isn’t supposed to be inside the “Audio” folder.
I recommend making a parent folder that holds all of your Cubase projects, and creating a new folder for each new project.
Only if you have “Use Default Location” checked. My “default location” is in my sidebar, so in the offhand chance it isn’t automatically selected when I create a new project, I just use the file-management window of my OS to navigate to it.
I have been using the default location of desktop for about 10 years, and never had a problem with that setting, so why change it now?
The project folder name seems to default to a test name I tried when I first started using 15 Pro??
I know the cpr file shouldn’t be IN the Audio file, but that’s my point…NEITHER folders/files are together in a desktop file, as I have grown used to!!
You don’t have to–but you obviously want a new project folder for each project.
You can change it. Cubase will create a new (number appended) folder for each project if you have Use Default Location enabled. You can rename the folder(s) if you want.
Sounds like you don’t have “Use Default Location” enabled, and you’re selecting Desktop as your project folder.
The fastest way I found is (while having a default location selected) to enter the Hub settings, type the new folder name, exit settings, create new project or choose template
