Cubase Pro MIDI Monitoring for Chords

I’ve just become a Cubase user and was wondering if there’s a way to see live midi data displaying the keys and chords you’re playing. Logic Pro and the MPC software have this feature which is useful for keyboard players. Thanks

you can see them in the piano roll. probably other ways too, but that is the only one I use.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

You can open the MIDI Monitor on any Input MIDI Port, or on a MIDI Track (as a MIDI Insert). This monitors the MIDI data while recording.

If you want to see the MIDI data in the Key Editor/Score Editor while recording, you have to 1st create the MIDI Part. Then you have to open the given editor, enable Record in Editor and start Recording (via Key Command or from hardware, you must not click on the Transport Panel Record button – the focus would change to the project window, so you wouldn’t record in editor anymore). There is no chance to see the Chords while recording.

If you want to see already recorded data, do what glennloopez mentioned. Or you can just drag and drop the MIDI Part over to the Chord Track, which will analyse the data and show the chords.
