Cubase Stock Compressor emulations

Anyone knows if the stock compressors (single band) in Cubase 15 were emulated after hardware compressors? we have Compressor, Valve Compressor, Vintage Compressor, Vox Compressor, Black Valve. Any similarities to LA-2A, 1176, SSL Bus compressor, Destressor..

There don’t seem to be emulations but rather some “inspired by”.
Tube Compressor seems to be inspired by LA-2A,
Vintage Compressor seems to be inspired by 1176,
Vox Compressor seems to be inspired by R-Vox.

Thank you

That’s a very adequate description. Soundwise, these stock compressors are very different from dedicated classic compressor emulations IMO.

What you get are compressors with a lot of functionality for free and different flavours. That’s cool.
However, there are companies which are specialized on pristine emulations of classic compressors and they put many years of research into it. It would be unreasonable to expect Steinberg’s stock plugins to level up with these emulations. Thus, as far as similarities are concerned I am having trouble to identify any striking similarities soundwise.

I think it boils down to intended similarities or as @Johnny_Moneto put it “inspired by”. Again, it’s all good for the above mentioned reasons. Steinberg’s primary focus isn’t on plugins and that’s a very reasonable approach IMO.
