I’ve seen some other posts about this, but didn’t see an answer. Quite simply, is there a setting that allows for setting the default track height?
I ask because I have all my tracks set to the smallest height. But if I make use of the ‘Zoom Track Exclusive” feature (shortcut ‘Z’), all of my tracks jump to being 1 row in height. I only want the zoom to affect the selected track(s), then on the toggle reset those back to my original track height.
No default track height that I know of, but alternately there are :
first, the Snap track height option (in the dropdown menu displayed as a downward arrow, just under the vertical scrollbar of the arrange page) that I personaly keep contantly activated.
second, the Preferences one (Editing > Project & Mix Console > Enlarge Selected Track), which allow you to set a kind of adjusted height for the selected track(s) you are working on, after having previouly adjusted the needed height of a given track.
I have never quite understood the use of “Zoom track exclusive”, with that weird limitation that all the other tracks go to 1 row height, but not back where they were when toggling “zoom track…” off. I also prefer to use “Enlarge selected track”, for which I have set a key command to toggle it on/off should I need it.
Then I have set key commands for different track heights, e.g. “shift+1” for “Zoom track 1 row”, “shift+2” for “zoom track 2 rows” etc.
I do use the “Enlarge Selected Track”. The problem is if I use the ‘Z’ function (to make even larger the selected tracks), ALL of the tracks (originally at their smallest), except the selected ones, which get large, jump to 1 row height. In other words, all the non-selected tracks jump to 1 row height. I want those to just remain as they were.
Then, it would be better to use the Edit > Zoom > Zoom in Tracks function (usable with the Ctrl + Down key command by default) : this one doesn’t alter the height of unselected tracks, but works by step.
Zoom tracks minimal : available directly in the dropdown zoom menu list (under the vertical scrollbar of the arrange page) or via a key command to be defined in the Zoom section : there is none by default.
