Cubase Update. - Transfer old licence to another steinberg account?

Hello,

I have an old Cubase 7 Education license from 2013 (still using the e-Licenser).

I would like to take advantage of the current sale to update my software.

I also use Dorico and have a steinberg account for that, which is linked to a newer email address.

Is it possible to purchase the Cubase update using the newer account and transfer the old cubase license to this account?

Greetings,
Johannes

I think you must buy the upgrade to the EDU on that account.

Check out their resale wizard.
How to resell Steinberg software (Resale Wizard) – Steinberg Support

Once you have upgraded from EDU it is a regular license and you could “resell” it to yourself. I did once upon time buy a used license of Absolut and had to transfer from dongle to dongle. I think the upgrade then “resell” would work for you if I understand the Steinberg rules. Below is a copy/paste from Steinberg reseller helper.

Resale restrictions

Before you begin, please note the following resale restrictions:

Educational Licenses

Educational licenses are personal and must not be passed on or sold to any other third party or person.

Software/hardware bundle

So-called OEM software like Cubase AI, Cubase LE, WaveLab LE, Sequel LE must not be sold separately from the hardware they initially came bundled with. This also applies to included effect plug-ins, for example the Basic FX Suite collection.

License Agreement

We reserve the right to refuse the ownership transfer service in case of suspected violation of the license agreement.

Thanks a lot, and sorry for the late reply!

I bought the update and managed to upgrade my old license (though it wasn’t super easy with the old dongle system…).

I’ll reach out to Steinberg support now to see if I can transfer my license. Right now, I have to switch accounts in the Activation Manager every time I want to go from Dorico to Cubase…
