Cubase visually running at low FPS?

Yo guys,

So i’ve got a new gaming laptop which is pretty much the most powerful laptop money can buy right now and running Cubase on it seems to be all fine, apart from the fact that visually everything is running very low FPS?

The volume bars on each channel, any EQ analysers I use (i use both waves PAZ analyser and Vision 4X) and everything seems to running at like 10FPS or something.

I’ve changed the project settings to run at 60FPS but i’m pretty sure thats just for video.

Anyone got a fix?

I think it changes depending on the buffer size. On my station a buffer size of 64 samples feels a lot smoother visually, than e.g. 2048.

Yes, the FPS is just for video.
What setting is your audio buffers?
Are you getting dropouts when you play back audio or is it just the GUI that’s running slow?
Also, forgot to ask… when I see gaming laptop I automatically assume it’s Windows.
Is your laptop Win or Mac?

How do you know this? Not disputing, just curious. I use an AMD GPU and its software doesn’t measure FPS outside of games.

I’m assuming they mean slow refresh rates for channel meters, etc.

exactly this, I can physically see how slow the refresh looks and seems super stuttery like its at 5fps

you can change the meter balistics in the settings if that helps.

Some gaming laptops have 2x GFX cards is Cubase using the more powerful one ? My old Rog Zephyrus had the on board GFX and a powerful NVidea and you could set programs to use either. Maybe check that as well.
