Cubase weird crash!

Hi!

Cubase crashes everytime when I

  1. start a new project
  2. then add audio track
  3. then add random sample to audio track
  4. then make a cut with scissors tool

I am not using any plugins or instruments

Then cubase kind of hangs. All meters hang. Zoom (G and H keys) is not responding.
No button will respond but I can still start and stop the track and hear the audio by clicking on the timeline and pressing “space”.
At one time I got an error message and managed to get the dump file. Here´s the link to error dumpfile:

What I tried:

  1. I refreshed preferences
  2. Updated to Cubase Pro 9.5.21

I think it started after windows update but I´m not sure

My system:
Cubase Pro 9.5.21
Windows 10
16 GB ram
i7 processor
Yamaha Steinberg ASIO USB driver and Steinberg UR242 soundcard

I need to work on Cubase tomorrow.

Any ideas how to fix it or what I should try?

Does that happen if you start Cubase in Safe Start Mode?

Cubase might be importing a bad preferences file (possibly corrupted during a crash) from an earlier version.

Yes I tried deleting the preferences folder but that didn´t work.
However I found a temporary solution. The problem only happens when my laptop is working on battery.
So the issue could be related to power settings somehow.

had exactly the same issue using Cubase Artist 10.0.20
total crash every time I used tools, like scissors

resolution - plug in laptop to mains power
