Hi folks, as you guys can see in the video below, I am having a very weird behavior from the modulation control. I am adding a 6 bar LFO modulation in a knob of a VSTi, and it is freaking out with the modulation that doesn’t make sense, neither do respect the boundaries I am setting. Out of the blue it starts to change the actual modulation control, not respecting the sine wave form.
What am I doing wrong? The destination modulation knob is not automated. I just tried re adding a new modulation to be sure and I realized that is crazy indeed. What can I do to fix that?
The 6 bar sine wave modulation seems to be running smoothly. What happens is that something else is governing the setting of the Superdrift parameter. It looks like it is not coming from the modulator. Since the automation lane is empty and Cubase is stopped - is there anything within the synth that you use that could do that? Is that parameter maybe also assigned to a Midi CC and one of your midi devices is sending the data? Or maybe another modulator is running?
What happens if the project is playing back?
Easiest test for that is to bypass the modulator and see if it is still moving. But again, in their example video, the project isn’t playing back.
Do you have a Quick Control assigned to this knob?

I created a new project, nothing there. Added the same VSTi, did the same modulation, and the same issue happens.
Tried by associating the knob to a quick control and then modulating the quick control, it kind of work better, but still a bit buggy.
Now, I confess so far I am having that only with this VSTi. Not sure if would be an issue with the VSTi?
Just to clarify, in your new tests, is the project playing back and the problem still persists? Or does it behave more expectedly when playing back?
I don’t know this particular plugin. It doesn’t have any internal modulation possibilities, that might be part of the preset? No step sequencer for example? Or an LFO with Sample&Hold setting?
Hi! Yes the issue happens playing and not playing. I found out because I was listening to the music and I realized that the detune of the synth was going nuts detuning too much.
What happens if you disable the modulator? Is the knob still moving around?
What happens if you automate the control instead of modulating it? Does the issue occur with modulation?
Do you have a MIDI Remote Controller setup and mapped to this control?
It’s a very simple VSTi Synth focused in emulating Roland’s JP-8000/8080 Supersaw. It does not have any LFO. It is called “SuperClassic” (https://hahmodsp.com).
Just to close this thread without having this question I raised unanswered, as far as I checked here looks like an issue with how the VSTi works. I checked how it behaves with which MIDI controllers it interacts with by moving some knobs and it is really weird. 1 knob change multiple controllers in the same time which may lead to this bug. Since I don’t have this issue with other VSTi only with this, I will consider that it’s not Cubase’s issue but the VSTi itself.
