Thanks for passing this information on to whoever is working on this now, and I hope you’re enjoying your new project!
This really does seem like a smoking gun to me. It always felt like there was an “extra”/hidden window somewhere that would swallow Alt-Tabs, thus throwing off the expected windows switching/handling.
FWIW, I only had one Hub window on the screen, so the other one was indeed “hidden” somehow (i.e. not visible).
I then had another occurrence of this where a “hidden” Cubase window would show up in the Alt-Tab screen, but that one wasn’t a Hub window, just a small Icon labeled “Cubase something” (I forget the exact Windows title, and it’s hard to take a screen shot when you’re holding down Alt-Tab because the Prt Srcn key doesn’t work in that case )
Hopefully this will help your colleages track this down, I bet it’s behind a lot of the windows handling weirdness.
Hello, also posting about this having only just started using Cubase 13 recently. Alot of things to like, but a lot of things not to like and this also being one of them.
I am using the latest 13.0.30 Cubase and Windows 10.
Having the window maximized does not give it the correct focus to it. Alt-Tabbing between other full screened windows and then back to Cubase does not bring it to the front which always worked in every previous Cubase/Nuendo version I have.
I tried running the program as an administrator and it didn’t make a difference. Hope this gets resolved soon.
Hello, just updating that I think I have found the bug:
When the video player is set to fullscreen mode, Cubase 13 seems to lose its ability to behave properly and have priority when being alt+tabbed to.
This again is in Windows 10 (latest build) and Cubase 13.0.30.
Steps to replicate issue:
Open any session in Cubase 13 that has video in it, but without the video in full screen mode (it can be open)
Have multiple windows open (eg Midi editor, mixer)
Alt + Tab to something else eg. Chrome or Edge,
Alt + Tab back to Cubase 13 and it should work as expected, so Cubase 13 will move to the forefront of all other programs
Now make the video full screen on a secondary display
Alt +Tab to another program eg. Chrome
Alt+Tab back to Cubase and now Cubase does not come to the forefront and you now have to minimize all other programs in order to see Cubase and work in it.
@Armand Could this please be fixed in the next update and also can’t believe that I’m the only one who has discovered this bug. Thank you.
I wonder if this has to do with secondary displays. I have three 4K monitors connected to my Cubase PC, each one with a Cubase window maximized (project, mixer, SuperVision)…
I wonder too. But i’ve owned Cubase for many many years now and it has never behaved this way, so maybe they really redid the coding a lot, and this must have been collateral damage to the upgrades they did in other departments.
Personally, I can’t use the menu in the pool window nor choosing any media. But I can close the window without Cubase 13 crashing, so that’s always something! I’m kinda loosing it on Cubase! I don’t wanna hate it! But I am close to throw it in the garbage, subscribe on protools and never look back!
Same here… Just updated the last “maintenance” to Cubase 13 and stuck with this issue now. None of the workarounds help. Always have to minimize all other windows programs to bring Cubase to the front.
