Cubase wont start (kernelbase.dll) please help

Cubase 15.0.20 64bit2026.4.10 10.00.59.147.dmp (333.4 KB)

Hello, I just attached the dmp, maybe you can help me identify whats wrong?

I saw it briefly but i have no ideia what to look for. Something caught my attention though, its says windows 10 somewhere but im on windows 11.

I tried to scan to search for windows errors as suggested on other topics, it said it found erros and fixed them. I didnt do anything else.

I don’t have kontakt installed.

Welcome to the forum.

The problem seems to be with the VC runtime, it appears in the stack trace just before the kernelbase.dll

Try downloading the latest package from Microsoft and install it on your machine.

You have Windows 11 Build 26100, which is internally still shown as Windows 10. Don’t worry, that is normal.

I had it installed already. tried starting cubase without it then I reinstalled the C++ and still nothing.

juergenP, i renamed my vst3 folder and tried again,m this time it launched. its probably some old crappy vst i had in there. all good now. thanks so much for you time.

That’s just how C++ throws exceptions.

The issue is probably a null pointer or something being passed to a function, but almost certainly exists outside of the VC Runtime.

Just a tip: Instead of renaming your vst3 folder, you can always start Cubase in safe mode with third party plugins disabled. The safe mode windows comes up after a crash automatically, or you can force it by starting Cubase and immediately hitting the keys Ctrl-Shift-Alt (Windows) or Cmd-Shift-Opt (Mac).
