Cubase15 Splice Integrated Features

Like Ableton 12.3 and Studio 7 Pro, which already integrate splice into DAW with various convenient features, why can’t Cubase 15 have similar functionalities! I look forward to seeing Splice integration in the Cubase 15 version.

Cant see it ever happening, Cubase is aimed primarily at Composers and audio engineers, Beatmakers make up a small fraction of the core userbase.

Ableton on the other hand is dominated by Electronic music making community.

Just like you will probably not see anything like Dorico, Expression Maps, ARA Compatibility, Video Tracks, Control Room, VCA Channels in Ableton. It does not suit there dominant userbase.

Do you actually have any real data for that? I am always surprised at how many people seem to be using Cubase for electronic music and such, and a lot of the features added in the recent updates seem to also cater towards that audience (drum/pattern tracks, modulators, some of the plugins…).

I think the Cubase userbase is more varied than one might think at first glance, but of course only Steinberg could perhaps know that.

That being said, I personally have no need for integrated splice…

Threes already an integrated splice option vst, its called Splice Bridge, Ableton just took it a step further and invited Splice inside there application.

Ableton is designed for samplists, beatmakers, so it makes sense.

If You bring in Splice to Cubase, you have to justify this move to your community who do not like this stuff, Ableton does not suffer in this area, its a DAW made by 2 techno Junkies, obsessed with Berlin Techno and making music on the fly Live on a stage.

Cubase is a different vibe altogether, i see they are designing tools for the Electronic music making community but the environment is geared towards audiophiles who like to be consumed by complexity and hours of editing, Ableton has a vibe that is very rapid, just throwing samples around and quickly doing bounces of files to chop up in samplers and drum machines.

Cubase is a rolls-royce Ableton is a sports car, you need to know your customer base, if Rolls-Royce started making there cars like Audis and Bmw’s, it could kill the brand.

Cubase should not allow a gimmick into there DAW, if Splice collapses in 3 years due to AI taking over the sample market, where does this leave Ableton ?

And what about Loopmasters ? who are just as good if not better than Splice, do you let them in as well ?

I don’t think there’s a conflict. With the advent of the AI era, there are more efficient ways to improve work efficiency, and we shouldn’t resist this. Composers have progressed from score writing to MIDI writing, to sampling and arrangement, and now to AI composition and arrangement—all are advancements. Why create so many obstacles? Integrating Splice is inherently more efficient than not integrating it. If possible, it will not only benefit composers but also greatly assist film and television score composers.
