Cubasis 3 Android - Glitches When Recording due to Bitrate Conversion

Hi,

I am having issues with Cubasis, and was instructed on the Google Play Store review page to email the support dept., but there is no email listed anywhere.

The full review text and response from Lars at Steinberg is shown below. Thanks.

Review & Response:

There are glitches when recording audio tracks because there is no option to switch bitrate on the selected audio interface. My USB interface is 44.1, but because Cubasis only uses the generic Android driver, it’s forced to upsample from 44.1 to 48khz which causes dropouts and artifacts even for simple audio projects. Audio Evolution app has it’s own driver, and once set to 44.1khz has no such issues. Steinberg also still haven’t run with AAP as an LV2/VST3 host engine, so no 3rd party effects.

Hi White Room, Many thanks for your review and rating. We are sorry to read about your issues. To further exchange with us, please send us an Email to the address stated on this page, and include the full correspondence. Thanks Lars

Welcome to the Forum.

The answer is obviously from @LSlowak who is from Steinberg and reads the forum here pretty often.

Btw: there is a dedicated Cubasis forum, so you should therefore move your posting to that forum, instead of Mobile Apps.

Thx - moved to Cubasis Thread

Hi @White_Room

Thanks for your message.

You should be able to find an Email address listed in the “support for this app” section on the Cubasis Google Play page.

The performance of Cubasis for Android is strongly related to the Android device in use, same goes for using external audio devices.

Currently Cubasis for Android is limited to 48 kHz. Please see all features of the available Cubasis versions listed on the Cubasis website.

Please take a look at the PM to further exchange about your topic.

Hope that helps.

Best,
Lars

Even though I’m not personally using Android devices I think it’s about time for the core Cubasis audio-engine to get support for device independent ‘Project Sample Rate’.

If/when the project sample deviates from the currently set/fixed hardware sample-rate the Cubasis output would be resampled to match the hardware sample rate during playback, on modern devices this has a negligible impact on the performance.

This would make it possible to work on projects at various sample-rates without having to re-sample all the project audio files when changing the sample-rate.
