I have purchased four different VAPoly synth apps, they all have one thing in common and that is the pitch bending range is locked at + - 1 octave.
I have a script for Mozaic (thanks @wim) that scales the + - 1 octave down to + - 2 semitones, when recording the pitch bending movement in Cubasis, the MIDI events are perfectly stable as would be expected, but pitch bending whilst playing in Cubasis causes the note to bend with a constant yodel! This is because Mozaic (MIDI Effect Insert) is sending the new scaled down data at the same time Cubasis is sending the original 1 octave bends. This happens when using the Cubasis Virtual keyboard and my external MIDI keyboard.
Is there any way I can block the pitch bend data sent by Cubasis?
Mike
Hi @fixitmania53
Could an app like MIDIflow be of help to filter the pitch bend data?
Best,
Lars
Hi Lars,
Thank you for the helpful information. I have investigated the different MIDIflow apps available. There is one MIDIflow app that does not require Audiobus3, it involves buying IAPs, but the reviews for the last 12 months have been quite negative so I won’t take the risk at this stage.

What would You expect to happen?
You’re sending two streams of pitch-bend commands (one that is recorded and one being played live) to the same instrument instance?!
Maybe it’s worth trying to record the ‘scaled’ pitch-bend events instead of full-range pitch-bend events. This way Cubasis would not send the +/-1 octave pitch-bend events but rather the pre-sacred pitch-bend events?
Ideally getting it touch with VAxxx developer could provide a long-term solution instead of relying on processed pitch-bend events.
Hi Samuel,
I think I may have caused some confusion in my first post above, I only mentioned the MIDI Pitch Bend recording to clarify that the data from the pitch bend wheel going into the VAPoly synth was a clean row of events on the MIDI CC track, but operating my external keyboard pitch bend wheel was indeed trying to bend one octave whilst at the same time Mozaic was trying to enforce two semitone bend which caused the yodels, I never had intention of Cubasis sending recorded data at the same time as playing live
I have already contacted the developer a number of weeks ago but there has been no reply from them, I even wrote the pitch bend issue on all four of the VAPoly apps reviews hoping for a Developers response……but I won’t be holding my breath.
BTW, when I do record the pitch bend data in Cubasis and then play it back using the Mozaic script, the bends are a perfect two semitones and if I only wanted to use the synth/s as a backing instrument only then this would not be a problem. It just can’t be used in a live playing situation.
Apart from the pitch bend issues - they are all really good synths.
