Cubasis freezes my ipad pro every time I try to open inter-app device on a track

Cubasis 3.5 upgrade was working okay but now, whenever I add an inter audio device to a track, the app freezes and needs to be restarted. Happens the moment I choose any Inter Audio app.and happens every single time.

What is the solution please?

It was working up until the point I tried adding a control surface. I tried adding a Korg Nanokontrol Studio (which proved to be an almost useless device in Cubasis 3.5. I removed the Korg and then tried with a Presonus Faderport (also almost completely useless).

After I removed these devices, Inter-Audio apps started crashing Cubasis 3,5. I cannot confirm if this bad behaviour was happening prior to attempting to use either of these controllers, but it certainly happened immediately afterwards.

I am quite invested in making music in Cubasis 3.5 so this is a real pain. Adding a controller is important to my workflow.

I am using an iPad Pro 11, and my version of IOS is 16.6.

How can I fix this please? Without losing my purchased Cubasis 3.5 upgrade, extra machines etc?

Thanks!

Hi,
Before launching Cubasis, launch any IAA app you intend using first and leave them running in the background, then Launch Cubasis. When you title your project, add your IAA’s at the end of the title so that when you browse your projects you will know what to pre-launch, ie PROJECT NAME (M1 Nave Wavestation).
Apple no longer supports IAA, AUv3 is the norm these days

Okay, thanks for that… I was certainly using them up until very recently, so maybe I had nor realised I already had them open in the background. Its good to know my go-to synth is still available in some useful way by opening it before Cubasis.

Does anybody have good success with any of the control surfaces out there or is there no fully functional script to get one working completely?

Midi Learn is a good start, I use this extensively in real time and Automation In program mode, both methods are simple in Cubasis. Checkout the user manual by tapping the ? on top right of screen for these options.
Hope this helps

Thanks, I did already try that. Had endless probs getting the master level control… and reconnection after reopening to Cubasis 3.5.1 app - I was experiencing very strange behaviour including controls no longer responding, very slow opening times and a wierd translucent overlay of the Cubasis opening “choose project” screen.

I tried an Arturia Keylab 49 Mk2, a Korg Nanokontrol Studio, and a Presonus Faderport… all tried in MACKIE, HUI, and self-mapped modes. I did try to be thorough, careful and logical, but none of these options produced reliable, or even repeatable results.

I assumed these controllers must be in some ways incompatible… but it is starting to look like there are no controllers that actually work completely with Cubasis.

I’ve been using synths since 1884, MIDI since it came into existence and DAWs since EMagic in 1997. This doesn’t make me an e pert but I do have a good deal of experience. I would have backed myself to get this sorted within a day or 2, but simply haven’t been able to.

I will give it one last go today. I have another controller that is currently dedicated to my StudioLogic SL73 keyboard - the SL Mixface. Once I’ve disconnected it from my main computer setup in our studio, I am going to try that as I see there is supposed to be a dedicated script for it in the Cubasis > MIDI learn dropdown.

Anybody else had good success with the SL MixFace?

Hi @Jenna,

Thanks for your message.

Normally, it should work fine to use your controller with Cubasis.
You may check out our dedicated MIDI Learn, Mackie Control and HUI Protocol Support tutorial?

Hope that helps!

Best,
