Cubasis piano roll with recording button problem

Cubasis 3 has a massive, project-killing flaw that Steinberg refuses to fix. If you spend an hour meticulously writing a melody in the Piano Roll, a single accidental tap on the “Record” button can wipe your entire performance instantly.

Because the app defaults to “Replace” mode and auto-arms tracks when you select them, it is a landmine for tablet users. On a touch interface, it is far too easy to hit Record by mistake. Most DAWs are designed to protect your work; Cubasis is designed to overwrite it.I really love the latest updates to be honest.

But,The worst part? Undo is completely broken here. When you hit Undo after an accidental recording, it removes the new “empty” take but does not restore the MIDI notes that were there before. Your work is simply purged from the timeline. It feels like a desktop program from 2005 ported to a tablet without any thought for touch-screen ergonomics.

I am already started to get excited into this as a mobile daw and as a idea sketching.but I never come back if you guys don’t fix this simple.Come On Steinberg!

Hi @Fosplit

HNY 2026 and a warm welcome to the Cubasis forum.

If possible, please let us have a short clip which shows the exact steps leading to the problem, to allow us reproducing the issue.

Thanks
